Caro Villeneuve

We are so lucky at H2O School to have a world-renowned champion and coach as our owner and operator. Caro Villeneuve is a very talented professional athlete with an impressive list of qualifications and unique experiences. She coaches a variety of sports including wakeboarding, competitive swimming, diving and hydroflight but her area of specialty and true passion will always be wakesurfing.

Caro studied kinesiology in Montreal; coached several aquatic disciplines including lifeguarding for 16 years; worked 5 years for the Canadian Coast Guard Search & Rescue program; taught CPR and the Pleasure Craft Operator courses to hundreds of people; started coaching wakesurfing and wakeboarding in Quebec in 2007; opened H2O School on Lake Koocanusa in 2011; travelled to the Bahamas, USA, Switzerland, Dubai, Russia, France, Japan and all across Canada to coach private lessons and camps. She founded the Rocky Mountain Wakesurfing Association (non-profit) and has been organizing the Koocanusa Wakesurf Challenge from 2012 to 2017. She served on the board of directors of the Competitive Wakesurf Association (CWSA) for 7 years and was an integral part of the creation of the current World Ranking System (WRS). Caro has been judging several events in 6 different countries (including at the World Wakesurfing Championship for 6 years) and she is recognized as one of the few qualified head-judges and pro judges for wakesurfing events

in the world.

In addition to her impressive coaching, judging and boating experience, Caro is also an accomplished athlete and a pioneer of the sport. In 2015, her accomplishments and her involvement to grow the sport was recognized and she won the “Wakesurfing Person of the Year” Award. A few years later, she received the very prestigious "Legend" Award for all her world-wide contributions to the sport of wakesurfing; the first ever female to ever receive this award.

Caro began wakeboarding first, then progressed onto wakesurfing because it was a new exciting challenge. She started to compete in the pro women division in 2007 and she made the podium over 73 times out of the 90 wakesurfing events she ever attended in her professional career (including 41 first places and 23 second places). For the past decade, many female athletes have been inspired by Caro's skills, style, sportsmanship and innovations. The sport has been growing exponentially in Western Canada and Caro has definitely been a big part of it. Over the years of travel and competitions, Caro also managed to bring back the gold from 5 of the 6 countries she travelled to. She has been competing at the World Wakesurfing Championship for 11 years, where she placed on the podium 8 years in a row and won the World Title in 2015. Caro is a leader and a role model for many athletes. Her passion is contagious and she might just be the best coach you’ll ever get the chance to learn from!
